Claude Monet born anniversary

PARIS.- Claude Monet was born on 14 November 1840 on the 5th floor of 45 rue Laffitte, in the ninth arrondissement of Paris. Monet was a founder of French impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting. The term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting Impression, Sunrise. This is an undated photo of Impressionist painter Claude Monet in his studio in Giverny, France. Monet lived in Giverny for 43 years, from 1883 until his death in 1926. Several of his works from the Waterlilies series can be seen along the walls. (AP Photo).
