The Museum of Contemporary Art in Salta ( MAC ) opened its doors on July 26, 2004 , in order to disseminate, research, educate and exhibit contemporary art of production local , national and international . It has a library, photo , video , art workshop for children. Spread the contemporary art works in education , training, collections , libraries and archives.

The MAC has become the focus of public policy on the Visual Arts and specifically to Contemporary Art since its conception . Its main activity is the organization of samples to be renewed monthly.

The building Chosen for the operation of the museum, is an Italian-style building dating from the Nineteenth Century, Located in the historical district. With four years of the museum has Achieved a strong attachment to national and international level thanks to the support of the community Sustained That has Their Continued Involvement Contribute to the Achievement of Key Objectives.

The Museum have an ever-growing collection Formed by the contribution of local artists, as Foreigners and Acquisition Programs Mutching Founds of Zurich and Chandon in ArteBA donation.

Essential feature, the MAC proposed an interactive space where an artist can occupy all the rooms, or live in several different proposals simultaneously.

In 2007 the museum was Awarded Museum of the Year, Awarded by the Art Critics Association of Argentina (AACA).
